When we have company coming for dinner we go to the recipe box to find just the right thing to serve.

Often we are missing some of the ingredients that are needed to guarantee a successful result.

Starting a new organization requires a recipe, too. The Ageless Dreamer Foundation is currently celebrating its first anniversary as a 501c3, and has most of the ingredients in place.

There is a strong and committed board of directors who are planning a "Friend Raising" campaign to help fund the growing number of dream requests.

Next we add a dedicated group of volunteers who have helped make some wonderful dreams come true. These are the people who give their time to organize, drive, donate and accompany our dream recipients on their wonderful adventures.

To highlight a few:

q A trip to the top of Cannon Mountain for Hattie and her friends from the Riverside Rest Home.

q An art show for three local very talented artists, complete with a wine and cheese grand opening.

q A Harley-Davidson motorcycle ride for Lura.

q A picnic on the river next to their old homestead for a couple who now live at Riverside Rest Home.

q For Grace, a visit to Grand Finale Farm in Barrington to pet the donkeys there.

q A visit from StoryCorps www.storycorps.org, an oral history project affiliated with National Public Radio and the U.S. Library of Congress where Dreamers shared their life stories with their families.

q Participation at the Jason B Hussey Memorial Road race in Greenland this summer.

q Dr. Frank Crider attended his 55th homecoming reunion at the National University of Health Sciences, Lombard, Ill.

q Rita, Betty, Rita V. and Sr. Terence enjoyed a concert at the Verizon Center with Guy and Ralna from the Lawrence Welk show.

q Vera and her friends enjoyed a trip to the Isles of Shoals thanks to the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company.

The businesses who have donated their time and services, add the sugar to our mix and some have received the Attitude Seal of Approval for going above and beyond.

These include: Staples, Federal Savings Bank, New Hampshire Public Television and Progressive Foods.

To help raise the dough (pardon the pun) let's add the very successful July Fourth Dunkin' Donuts "Dollar for a Dream" fundraiser. And don't forget the contractors & technical people including Tim Noonan Construction, Wally Johnson, Howard Systems, Goodwin's Office Products, BayRing Communications, Rochester Design Center and many more that transformed bare walls into our beautiful office at the McConnell Center, giving us a solid pan to support the mixture.

We let it bake and it is delicious! Come sample a piece of the finished creation. Call 603-953-0006.

Coming up at The Ageless Dreamer Foundation in September: Execution of lots of dream requests by the Ageless Dreamer Foundation "Dream Team."

Make sure to look for Ageless Dreamer Foundation volunteers and staff at the AARP conference to be held in Boston Sept. 6-8.

We will be sharing our "recipe for success" to all who are interested.

For more information on the conference, go to www.aarp.com. Watch for enhancements to our website by our new Web mistress Bobbie Miller at www.agelessdreamer.org and the announcement of new board members.

Last but clearly not least a HUGE thank you to the Dover Rotary Club, www.doverrotaryclub.org for underwriting 45 McConnell Center tiles to be distributed by Ageless Dreamer Foundation volunteers Millie and Bob Lamson to area retirement facilities so folks can participate in this community event.

Remember to support all of the nonprofit organizations in our community. They provide the yeast that makes this a great place to live!
